The Farm Stewardship is an all hands-on learning opportunity for people who are interested in farming and are unsure where to start.
Farm Stewardship
The Small Farm Initiative Stewardship teaches students how to grow organic and sustainable specialty vegetable crops in an urban setting. This learning opportunity is 100% hands on and does not include classes like the apprenticeship. You can expect to dive into intensive growing practices that also build the soil and farm ecosystem. Together, Farm Stewards, Farm Apprentices, and experienced farm staff cultivate 1.5 acres of what was once abandoned land in South Salt Lake.
This training includes how to operate and run a regenerative urban farm and how to effectively distribute produce. All farm interns will receive weekly vegetables for their participation in this program (June-October).
If you are interested, please fill out the application. For questions, please email Soni at sfi@gulb.org. Sliding scale payment options and payment plans are available upon request.
